Elevating your business with an angel
Business Angels – what are they looking for when investing?
Heidi Armstrong talks to Trevor Folsom from Elevation Capital.
Trevor Folsom is a successful entrepreneur having started Blueprint Management with his business partner Creel Price – and just $10K of capital. The business grew to over 950 staff, 10 subsidiaries and was sold 10 year later successfully to a private equity firm.
Trevor now engages, invests and advises growth companies particularly in the technology sector. Trevor is a Director of Elevation Capital – a business formed by a group of successful entrepreneurs, who pool their funds and knowledge in order to accelerate the success of various ventures they identify as worthy of investment.
Heidi Armstrong and Steve Price speak with Trevor on Radio 2GB to understand the motivations behind becoming a business angel and ask:
- How do people who are looking to get capital (money) to help with either a start-up or an existing business find someone like Elevation Capital? Are there pitching competitions?
- Is the “elevator pitch” really critical? When pitching to investors what should a business owner / start-up be making sure they get right?
- What makes a good entrepreneur?
- What is the value of third party endorsements such as business awards to potential investors?
Trevor is also a director of the SME Association of Australia and Chairman of The Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.
